There is now a new technology call FibroScan. Which is a liver examination device. That uses low-frequency sound wave reflection measurements and interprets the results into numbers to assess liver stiffness and the amount of fat in the liver.

This allows the person being examined to know how much fat has accumulated in the liver, the amount of liver fibrosis, and whether or not there is cirrhosis, without having to cut a piece of liver tissue for pathological examination, thus reducing the risk of complications from the examination.
